The Irish Coast Guard is in the process of replacing its fleet of 6 Sikorsky S-61 fleet with the S-92. Their first S-92 was delivered on 29 January 2012. The aircraft is currently undergoing type conversion and training with its crews before operational with the Shannon based team. Following this the other bases will convert to the new type.

The Waterford based Coast Guard Helicoptor EI-SAR a Sikorsky S61N operated by CHC Ireland (Call Sign when on task Rescue 117). This is one of 6 Helicoptors that provides search and rescue cover around the coast of Ireland from 4 bases with the others in Shannon Sligo and Dublin.
